Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect For Much Of N.B.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for a large swath of the province with only the Fredericton, Oromocto, St. Stephen, Grand Manan and Saint John areas not included.

Environment Canada says that conditions are right for thunderstorms to develop which could have the potential to bring strong winds, large hail and heavy rain.

“Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors,” writes Environment Canada in their advisory.

“Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.”
