Moncton Named Host Of National Soccer Event In 2020

Moncton has been chosen as the host city for the Canada Soccer Toyota National Championships Under-17 Cup in 2020.

The City, the Francophonie Games 2021 and Soccer New Brunswick teamed up earlier this year to submit a bid.

This is designed to be a test event in the Under-17 category for the Francophonie Games in 2021.

“Welcoming the U17 national soccer championship in Moncton in 2020 shows, yet again, our region’s expertise in hosting major events”, said Eric Mathieu Doucet, Chair of the Board of Directors of the 9th Francophonie Games, Moncton-Dieppe 2021. “These championships will also offer a learning opportunity to the 2021 Francophonie Games Organizing Committee.”

“Soccer New Brunswick is very pleased to be part of the City of Moncton’s plans to host the Canada Soccer Toyota National Championships U-17 Cup in 2020. It is a great opportunity to continue to showcase our growing soccer culture and the fantastic facilities of the region,” noted president Kevin Tolpolniski.

“We will continue to position Moncton as a key soccer event destination in Canada, and we are determined to pursue many more top-level soccer tournaments and programs in the future,” said Moncton Mayor Dawn Arnold.
