Cannabis NB Workers Will Get ‘Extensive’ Training

Work continues on getting all 20 Cannabis NB retail locations ready for the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Eleven of those stores are ready to open and the remaining nine should be done by September.

Lara Wood is the manager of cannabis at NB Liquor and says they tried to design a space that’s both professional and welcoming.

“We used a lot of iconic New Brunswick imagery, the layout is very clean and bright, the team will be very welcoming,” says Wood.

“People have joked around that it’s everything from similar to an Apple store or a perfume store or more of a mainstream retailer.”

About 200 staff will be hired and Wood says they’ll go through about three weeks of “extensive” training on product knowledge, responsible use, customer service and store operations.

“Our plan is to have a very well-trained staff that can greet customers and understand why they’re there and their background and their knowledge levels and make sure to help them to the right decisions that will work for them.”
