Riverview Library Renting ‘Daypacks’ To Encourage People To Explore The Outdoors

The Town of Riverview is partnering with the Fundy Biosphere Reserve to make hiking easier and more accessible.

FBR Executive Director Jennifer Dingman says anyone can rent a daypack for a week at a time from the Riverview Town Library to explore the surrounding area.

She says it includes a variety of ways to encourage people to be outside, including activities for friends and family.

“There’s also some identification guides for birds, and trees, and other plants,” says Dingman. “There’s a stargazing guide which is really fun, so you can go out at night and check out some of the constellations, and just a lot of information from different community groups about what they’re doing in the region.”

Dingman says people should be sure to bring extra clothes, water, and snacks as those are not included in the daypack.

There are four of the packs available for rental at the Riverview Town Library, and the only thing needed to do so is a library card.

Dingman says it’s a great way to encourage people to get outside, and explore the incredible environment around us instead of spending time staring into electronic devices.
