Wilderness Skills Camp Offered By Atlantic Wildlife Institute

It’s time to start thinking about summer camp for your kids, if you haven’t already.

The Atlantic Wildlife Institute is offering its Wilderness Skills Camp.

Director of Wildlife Care Pam Novak says it is a great opportunity for youth who want to experience nature.

“It really is to encourage youngsters to get out and learn some new skills and hands on activities that are all nature based programming. Combine that with the wildlife we work with, I think we do really have the opportunity to offer quite the unique experience.”

The kids will have the chance to explore various habitats on over 270 acres of land, “Open meadows, and the marsh. We have land over looking the lake and the Tantramar River. Working on our woodlands and our trails. They will learn how to identify wild plants, and how they can be helpful to them. They’ll learn survivor skills and even do some pond dipping.”

The camp is offered to children between the ages of 8 and 12 years old.

“Parents should expect their kids to come home a little bit dirtier than how they sent them, and that’s what we hope for,” Novak says.

Camp runs from July 30th to August 3rd.
