Saint John May Soon Have A Casino

The CEO of Develop Saint John says talks are happening between the city, the province and a potential operator about opening a casino here.

Steve Carson tells us the talks are in the early stages but are going very well so far.

We asked Carson if the city can support a casino since there’s already one less than two hours away in Moncton.

“Early indications are that there would be business here to support a casino,” says Carson.

He says they’ve been interested in a casino for years, but up until now, the province has only designated one casino for New Brunswick.

Carson says a casino would benefit the entire Fundy region with increased vibrancy, more tourism and good jobs.

“As we look across North America, the communities that have a growing and vibrant tourism and convention and destination, most have some model of a casino based in their communities,” he says.

Carson says several locations are being considered and he expects more info will come out in the next few months.
