$1.6 million has already been raised toward a $5 million goal.
Moncton mayor Dawn Arnold believes the centre and plaza will be a game-changer for the city.
“It’s very exciting to see the community come together like this and to see what it can do. This is about a vision for the future of our city and I think we have an excellent launch for that today,” she says.
Moncton Wildcats president Robert Irving announced a $1 million dollar contribution toward the “Our Urban Heart” campaign.

A family-friendly green space at the back of the plaza will be named Rotary Park to recognize a joint $200,000 donation from two Moncton area rotary clubs – Moncton Rotary Club and Moncton West and Riverview Rotary Club.
The plaza is intended to be a year-round gathering space for various activities, festivals and events.
This campaign is in addition to the $1.1 million donation for the Ian Fowler Oval recently made by Jon and Leslie Manship.
