First Time NB Event To Raise Awareness About Endometriosis

A Moncton woman wants to see more awareness raised about Endometriosis.

Endometriosis is painful condition that causes chronic pain and infertility in women.

Organizer of the first ever EndoMarch to be held in New Brunswick Andrée-Anne Leblanc hopes to see hundreds come out to Centennial Park tomorrow afternoon.

“I personally suffer with Endometriosis myself. After receiving my diagnosis, I became involved with several support groups and discovered that there was a much bigger need than initially thought.”

Leblanc says one in ten women in Canada suffer from the condition, which amounts to close to 20, 000 women in New Brunswick who are affected by this.

“It is not something that is talked about. It is very much suffered in silence and isolation. Bringing it to the public’s attention is a first step in removing that isolation and improving the living conditions for women suffering from Endometriosis.”

EndoMarch will be held from 1pm until 4pm tomorrow afternoon at Centennial Park.

Leblanc is hoping hundreds will attend, “We believe that earlier detection is absolutely critical at this point. Seven to ten years living in pain, living not knowing what is going on, is much too long for anyone to deal with. The more we talk about this, the more we can push forward.”
