With floodwaters receding in southern New Brunswick, the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has deployed technical teams in the field to assess roads and bridges so they can reopen as soon as possible.
Spokesperson Ahmed Dassouki says all available staff and resources will be used during the restoration effort.
He says staff from divisions not affected by flooding are ready to move into the hardest hit areas.
Dassouki says the department is also reaching out to private contractors and their federal counterparts at Public Works Canada who may be asked to mobilize if needed.
The Trans Canada Highway between River Glade and Oromocto is expected to reopen this weekend but no official word has come yet.
