NB Anti-Poverty Group Releases Platform

The Common Front for Social Justice has released its own platform it hopes the political parties will consider ahead of this fall’s provincial election.

The anti-poverty organization wants the situation to improve for New Brunswick’s minimum wage workers.

The group is proposing that political parties increase it by $1 a year until it reaches $15 an hour and then index it to inflation.

They say it will not only put more money in the pockets of families but would also stimulate consumer spending in local businesses.

The Common Front also wants to see changes and improvements to overtime pay, vacation pay, sick leave, employer-paid uniforms if required and pay equity.

Leading up to the election, the group will send a strong message to political leaders to consider some of their proposals.
