Tens Of Thousands Without Power As High Winds Blast The Province

Almost 29,000 customers are without power in New Brunswick at 1 o’clock, according to NB Power’s online map of outages.

Just over 7,100 customers in the Greater Moncton area are going without, with the area around Fredericton the worst hit with more than 7,900 customers in the dark.

NB Power does not have estimates for power restoration in the Greater Moncton area at this time, however, you can stay up to date by visiting the Outages page of the NB Power website HERE.

NB Power is also reminding the public not to go near, or touch a live wire if you encounter one, and you should call them, or the local authorities to report it.

Environment Canada issued a wind warning for Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick, saying winds up to 100 kilometres per hour could cause damage to windows or roof shingles.

They are also warning people to pay attention as loose objects might be picked up by the wind and cause injury or damage.

These sharp gusts of wind are expected to diminish this afternoon.
