Fire Forces Residents Out Of Home On West Street

Fire has caused extensive damage at an apartment in a home on West Street.

Moncton Fire was called to the scene at around 6am.

Division Chief for the Fire Investigation Division Charles Leblanc says the fire started in the kitchen area, “There is a lot of smoke and water damage to the apartment on the second level and there is a little bit of water damage on the unit just below.”

The residents were home when the fire broke out, but Leblanc says to his knowledge, no one was hurt.

Leblanc says it takes some time to determine a cause, “We start from the area of the least amount of damage to the most amount of damage and we try to pinpoint the origin of the fire. From there we try to determine the exact cause and how the fire started.”
