Officials continue to keep a close eye on the St. John River throughout New Brunswick.
Shawn Berry with the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization says water levels have stabilized in Fredericton but will remain above flood stage for the next several days.
“Water levels in areas to the south of Fredericton are expected to hit flood stage as well over the coming days,” Berry told us on Sunday.

Water levels are already above flood stage in Maugerville, Sheffield, Jemseg and Grand Lake.
In Quispamsis-Saint John, the flood stage is 4.2 metres, and water levels are expected to climb to 4.4 metres on Monday and 4.6 metres on Tuesday.
Berry says people have already decided to leave their homes as a precaution, mainly in Fredericton, Maugerville, Edmundston and Bathurst.
“There are 22 households that have registered with the Canadian Red Cross,” he says. “About 45 people from those homes.”

Several roads remain closed due to flooding and EMO is urging people to obey those road closures and to stay off the river.
“The water is fast-moving, the water is very cold,” says Berry. “In addition to that, there are a number of obstacles that may not be apparent.”
