Premier Attending Meetings In Washington, D.C. This Week

The softwood lumber issue, jobs, and NAFTA are among the topics that premier Brian Gallant plans to discuss while attending meetings in Washington, D.C. this week.

Gallant will meet with reps from the federal Office of Management and Budget and from South Carolina, Illinois, Massachusetts and Maine.

He’ll also be meeting with members of the U.S. Congress including Republican Senators Lindsey Graham and Susan Collins, Democratic Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island and David MacNaughton who is Canada’s ambassador to the U.S.

Gallant says these meetings are a chance to talk about how they can work together to improve the economy on both sides of the border.

Gallant was in Washington in February along with Maine Governor Paul LePage to meet with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross Jr. about softwood lumber.
