Planning continues for the “Everybody’s Children” luncheon hosted by the New Brunswick Adoption Foundation.
Executive Director Suzanne Kingston says the luncheon highlights children who do not legally have a home to go to, “Our focus as an organization is on kids who have been in foster care where there has been an attempt to help the original biological family, but it has fallen through, so the courts have severed the parental rights.”
Speakers at the luncheon will include the success stories of children, who have lived in foster care, “Part of what we want to do with the luncheon is raise awareness about these kids and how we all have a shared responsibility to them. People tend to have a lot of stereotypes about who are the youth in care. This will really blow their socks off because these kids will show that kids in care have a lot of offer. We want to people to come, but we also want them to donate there. There are a lot of ways people can help.”
It also draws attention to the desperate need for adoptive homes for youth over the age of 11.
The luncheon will be held on May 7th at Casino NB.
