Ontario Man Facing Charges After Routine Traffic Stop

A 59-year old Ontario man is facing charges following seizure of a weapon and contraband tobacco in Hanwell, near Fredericton.

On Tuesday afternoon around 1:30, RCMP officers stopped and searched a car during a routine traffic stop on Highway 2.

They found a gun and contraband tobacco products.

Lyman Chatman of Guelph is facing ten charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, a violation of the Excise Act, and two violations of the Tobacco Tax Act.

He will remain in custody until his next court appearance April 5th for election and plea.
