A large turnout at Moncton’s first ever free mental health clinic.
The clinic is operating on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 12:30 at the Community Peace Centre on Church Street in Moncton.
More than six individuals received counselling on the first day of operation last week.
Director of Operations with the New Brunswick Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association Kristen Barnes says this is not meant for crisis cases or for long term care.
“During the session, they get to speak with a mental health professional. Throughout the session, they get to work through what is going on. At the end of the session, they leave with a mental health summary form. The summary contains what they’ve talked about during the session. Also what steps they have determined will be best for them, any resources they have discussed and the general plan to how they are going to make positive change for their lives.”
The summary includes what they discussed during the session and the general plan of what they can do to how the can make positive change for their lives.
