New Brunswick is offering financial incentives to doctors to speed up the adoption of the provincial electronic medical record system.
Doctors who sign on before the end of the year will receive $2,500, and those who come on board in the first quarter of next year will get $2,000.
Fee-for-service physicians who are using the system will get extra incentives based upon office visits.

Health Minister Benoît Bourque says it’s a way to speed up the adoption of the new system, which is already being used by over 300 doctors.
Doctors involved in the Family Medicine New Brunswick initiative must implement the system and, as of April 1st, so will eligible new-to-practice doctors.
The province will spend $2.8 million over two years in a renewed partnership with the New Brunswick Medical Society, which will manage the system.
