A group of volunteer coders has come up with a new more mobile-friendly web app to help people get information about potential flooding in New Brunswick.
They call themselves Civic Tech Fredericton and the group used data made available from the province through GeoNB.
Bernie Conners is a Geomatics Engineer with Service New Brunswick and tells our newsroom the app will display the most recent water level, the 24 and 48-hour level forecast, and is more user-friendly than the last system.
“It required the flash player so it just didn’t work for people if they weren’t sitting at a desktop computer,” says Conners.
The app includes the 19 flood forecast locations on a map and also tells you when the EMO reaches the advisory or warning stage for flooding. Click here to access the mobile app.
