Spring Storm Packs A Punch

Another snow day for most students across the region.

Schools in Anglophone East and Francophone South schools in Moncton, Dieppe, Bouctouche, Cap-Pele, Cocagne, Grand Barachois, Grand Digue, Memramcook, Notre Dame de Kent,, Saint Antoine de Kent, Sainte Anne de Kent, Sainte Marie de Kent and Shediac are closed today are closed again today.

Due to school closure in Anglophone East the STEM Expo will be rescheduled to Monday, March 26th at NBCC Moncton.

It was the fourth Nor Easter in a month, and it packed the biggest punch bringing almost 30 centimetres of snow to the region.

Codiac Transpo buses were pulled off the roads last night, at around 6pm, but they are running again at the regular time this morning. They advise riders to plan for some delays due to weather conditions.

Flights in and out of the Greater Moncton Romeo Leblanc International Airport were cancelled last night due to the nasty conditions.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Andy Firth says this storm did end up tracking a little bit over Nova Scotia and closer to the region than expected…

He says once you are done digging out, we will see a little bit more snow tonight and tomorrow, “Some light flurry activity for today. In a bit of an unrelated note, we have some flurries that will redevelop again this evening, associated with a northeasterly flow that is going to develop off the water ahead of our approaching ridge of high pressure.”

Firth says it is not unusual to see a spring storm, and storms in April and May are not out of the ordinary either.

As for the road conditions this morning.

They’re very slick and snow packed, so if you have to travel….be sure to give yourself some extra time and slow down.
