Immigration Can Turn The Tide For Atlantic Canada

Increasing the number of people immigrating to Atlantic Canada is part and parcel of improving our economic fortunes.

That from former Premier Frank McKenna.

To turn things around, McKenna says we need investment and capital but we also need people.

“At present time there is a shortage of about 20,000 jobs that’s expected to increase by 2020 to 50,000 that are unfilled” McKenna says.

McKenna says things have changed in the last couple years and employers are approaching desperation.

He says nearly 1000 employers are signed up to scour the world for immigrants and New Brunswick increased its number from 350 to 950 people last year.
