Help Anglophone East Students “Fill The Bus”

A tradition for the Anglophone East School District that benefits Food Depot Alimentaire is underway.

For the past 19 years, students have been collecting non perishable food items, as a part of the Fill the Bus campaign.

Director of Finance and Administration Aubrey Kirkpatrick says, “Schools get together through the month of December, getting non-perishable food items and we send a bus to collect all of that food. We send approximately 8 buses out. We have to do this between 9 and noon. The school district office staff load onto buses, and we go out to schools. We virtually fill every bus, then we take it out to the Food Depot.”

They are hoping to raise more than they did last year, “Last year the Fill the Bus campaign raised 28, 545 pounds of food. Converted in dollars amounts, that is $71, 363.”

The campaign runs until December 17th. Students are bring asked to bring the items to school, but the public is asked to donate as well.
