A woman has died after being struck along the shoulder of the Trans Canada Highway near Havelock while helping another driver who had gone into the ditch.
Southeast RCMP say the 33-year-old Burton woman – who had been living in Saskatchewan – was one of two drivers who pulled over to help a driver whose truck had overturned late Tuesday afternoon.
A tractor trailer travelling in the same direction tried to pull over but jack-knifed causing the trailer to strike the two vehicles and their drivers who were beside them.
Police say the woman died at the scene.
A man driving the other vehicle and the driver of the truck in the ditch were both taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The tractor trailer driver was not badly hurt.
Mounties say weather conditions are believed to have been a factor in the crash.
