This weekend, gamers around the world are coming together, to raise money for sick kids.
They’re all taking part in an initiative called Extra Life. It was created in 2008, and it has raised over $40 million dollars.
It was formed in 2008 to honor Victoria Enmon, who died of acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

The main premise of the event is that group or teams get together and play different types of games for a 24 hour marathon. Some of those players stream while taking donations, while others raise funds and then just play in their homes.
Josh McLellan is proud to be taking part, “The first time I did it, it was because I was a gamer. But now I have a daughter, and fortunately we haven’t had to use the IWK, but it is peace of mind to know that it is there if we need it.”
Donations received while McLellan is streaming this weekend, will be going to the IWK Hospital in Halifax.
Over 50, 000 gamers are involved again this year.
McLellan says last year alone, over $11 million dollars was raised around the world.
