NB Women’s Council Releases Second Phase Of Resonate

The New Brunswick Women’s Council has released the second set of finding from a public engagement process known as Resonate.

The new data deals with the issue of gender minorities according to Executive Director Beth Lyons.

” These are people who identify as transgender, who are Two-Spirit, who are agender, genderfluid, there is a real diversity to gender it is not actually as binary as men and women” stated Lyons.

Lyons says they found four priority issues emerged from individuals belonging to gender minorities such as education, awareness and acceptance; health care; economic security and employment and discrimination based on gender identity.

Lyons says one key question was asked to those who did the survey, what did they feel the government doesn’t understand about whatever top issue it is in their lives?

” We certainly hope the government is seeing there is some information that is directed very much to them,” says Lyons.
