Sally Ann Stores Impacted By Donation Bin Fires

Donations are always needed at the Salvation Army locations in Greater Moncton, especially at this time of year.

But after fires in the donation bins at the Elmwood Drive location, those donations will never make it to store shelves.

Assistant District Manager Matthieu Nogueira says there were a number of things in the bins waiting to be picked up, “Donations were destroyed and the Salvation Army is in great need. It was a direct hit and it will affect us.”

The Moncton Fire Department responded to Elmwood Drive at around 11:30pm Sunday night.

Platoon Chief Dennis Dollemont says it only required one truck and they managed to get the flames out quickly.

Nogueira says their bins have been damaged, but donations can still be made at all of their stores directly. They are specifically in need of clothing, footwear and household items.

There’s no word at this point what caused the fires.
