GMFA Flag Football Team Compete For Trip To Grey Cup

For the second year, the CFL is offering a youth flag football tournament, with the winners being awarded a huge opportunity.

Football New Brunswick was approached this year by the CFL, and advised they would be doing a regional tournament, that would be hosted at Mount Allison University.

This year, 10 and 11 year olds from the Greater Moncton Football Association, and from other programs in PEI and Nova Scotia were chosen to compete.

Tryouts were held, and ten players were named to the GMFA team. Seven are from Greater Moncton, and 3 from Sackville, and two of those players are girls.

GMFA President Joel Irvine says the tournament will be played October 28th, “The winner of that regional tournament goes to the Grey Cup, courtesy of the Canadian Football League. They will get an opportunity to play in a tournament there and also watch the game.”

The winning team in the tournament at the Grey Cup, will also earn an all-expense paid trip to the NFL’s Flag tournament during Pro Bowl week.

The GMFA team is practicing on Saturdays at Rocky Stone Field from now until the day of the big game…

The Grey Cup will be played in Edmonton this year on November 25th.
