A familiar face to some, will take the lead with at the Moncton Fire Department next month.
The current fire Chief for the Dieppe Fire Department is moving to another another workplace just up the street. Conrad Landry will assume the role as Chief with the Moncton Fire department, when Chief Eric Arseneault retires in November.
He says he has some big shoes to fill, “Going from two fire stations to five fire stations, and from just over 40 employees to over 100 firefighters. That is an immediate difference for sure. It will be a couple of months learning on both sides.”
He says one of the first things he plans to do is hire a Deputy Chief. That role has been vacant since last December, when Don McCabe retired, “That position was not replaced yet, so that would be one of my first priorities to look at that position, because that is a huge role in any fire department. After that, I just want to take my time and observe. I will probably have more questions than answers at first and it will probably be in the new year before I have a concrete plan on where I would like to see the department go in the next year, to five to ten years.”
Landry’s first day on the job is November 5th.
