A Saint John-area man has been banned from owning animals for 10 years after pleading guilty to an animal neglect charge.
Kelly Whittaker has pleaded guilty to a criminal charge of willfully failing to provide food, water, shelter and care to his animals, according to a Facebook post by the New Brunswick SPCA.
Whittaker was charged after over 30 pigs, rabbits, ducks, geese and chickens were seized from his property in Prince of Wales in February.
According to the society, four of the animals had died of starvation.
Whittaker received a conditional discharge on a charge of causing unnecessary pain and suffering to his animals.
