Codiac RCMP were called to an alleged assault on Elmwood Drive at 1:20 Sunday morning.
Staff Sergeant Mario Fortin says a passerby called the police concerned over a bloodied man.
“So once we answered the call there was a 24-year old male that appeared to have gone into a fight, and the issue is we have no cooperation from the victim,” says Fortin.
He says they don’t have too many details but “we believe there was a fight between two people, perhaps at one point even bear spray or mace has been used, but because of the lack of cooperation from the victim that’s basically where we are at.”
Fortin says even if witnesses came forward, it wouldn’t help them advance the investigation.
“But the victim, by not cooperating, even if we have someone coming in and saying it’s so and so who did the assault, we still need a victim that cooperates and confirms the facts,” says Fortin.
Fortin says it’s one of those instances where they know a crime took place, but the victim doesn’t want anything done.
