New Brunswick’s chief coroner releasing the results of a review into the death of a child whose family was known to the Department of Social Development.
It found the nine-year-old boy died naturally from aspiration pneumonia because of a degenerative neurological disorder.
The review was completed by the Child Death Review Committee, which investigates the deaths of children under the age of 19, including those whose families were in contact with the Department of Social Development within 12 months before the child’s death.
In this case, the child was receiving services from the Family Supports for Children with Disabilities program.
The committee did not make any recommendations in this case.
