Dieppe Standoff Ends With One Under Arrest

After several hours, Codiac RCMP members arrested a man in Dieppe, wanted by the RCMP for a breach of probation.

Sergeant André Pepin says on Sunday evening, the man was seen entering a residence in an apartment building.

He says because the man was inside a residence, and didn’t want to come out, they needed a special warrant.

Pepin says it took several hours to secure a “Feeney Warrant”, which requires a judge to authorize RCMP officers to enter a residence when no offence has been committed.

Mounties were forced to stay at the building to ensure the man didn’t leave while they were securing the warrant.

Pepin says an arrest was made shortly after midnight Monday morning.
