Blaine Higgs is calling on the premier to guarantee that no action will be taken against the whistleblower in the property tax assessment scandal.
The provincial PC leader suggests it would have been a good idea to bring forward legislation during Public Service Week.
Higgs says the legislation is something that premier Brian Gallant has promised for some time.
“So if he meant anything by the protection and the requirement to do that I would think none other than this week would be a time,” says Higgs.
“We have someone that has indeed [blown the whistle] and identified the real problem which the premier has certainly spent a lot of effort denying and deflecting.”
Back in March, premier Brian Gallant praised the actions of the person but stopped short on promising no punishment.
