Thousands To Attend Three Fathers Run On Sunday In Greater Moncton

Many families will be celebrating fathers day at Bore Park this year.

The fourth annual Three Fathers Memorial Run will be held on Sunday.

President of the Organizing Committee Nadine Larche says this is held each year to honour three very special fathers, ‘The purpose of the run is to bring the community together on Fathers Day to remember three RCMP members who were killed in the line of duty on June 4th, 2014.”

Those officers are, Constables Doug Larche, Dave Ross and Fabrice Gevaudan.

Larche says, thousands attends each year, “The first year, there was an amazing turnout. There was about 7000 people in Greater Moncton. This year we are expecting 1200 to 1500 people.”

The first walk/run was held just weeks after the initial tragedy.

This year, CF-18 combat planes will perform a ceremonial flyover during the run.

Premier Brian Gallant is also expected to attend.

All of the money raised at the Run will be given in the form of scholarships, to 18 high school graduates at six high schools in the area that the Codiac RCMP serve.

The finish line of the run will be at the RCMP monument on the waterfront, officially called the Honour Garden..
