Provincial Health Minister Victor Boudreau is coming to the defense of the French multinational corporation that will be taking over management of hospital food, environmental services and patient transportation.
Both the Council of Hospital Unions and Provincial Green Party leader David Coon are critical.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees is claiming the French multinational, Sodexo has a poor track record in other jurisdictions but Boudreau begs to differ, calling Sodexo a global leader that serves a million Canadians a day.
Boudreau says there will be streamlining of operations with job losses but it will not worsen the patient experience, quite the contrary.
CUPE claims 280 fulltime equivalent positions will be lost.
