A local swimmer is one of six from across the country to receive a bursary from the Victor Davis Memorial Fund.

Douthwright currently swims with the Codiac Vikings Aquatic Club. At the age of 12, she became the youngest person to ever swim the Northumberland Strait between P.E.I. and New Brunswick, and also set a new Guinness World record with that feat..
The Victor Davis Memorial Fund is awarded each year to promising, high performance Canadian amateur swimmers to assist them to continue their training, education, and pursuit of medals at the international level of competition.
