Statistics Canada is reporting employment gains were up 214,000 jobs, or 1.2% country wide last year.
That’s the fastest December to December growth since 2012, with most of that increase taking place between August and the end of the year.
Part time employment rose 4.5% or 154,000 jobs while full time employment remained relatively unchanged.
Over that 12 month period the unemployment slid 0.2 to 6.9%.
In New Brunswick there were 1,400 fulltime jobs added last month with 700 part time jobs cut.
The provincial unemployment rate rose from 8.7% to 9.4%in spite of a net gain of 600 jobs.
