Volunteers Needed To Deliver Food Boxes

If you have some free time on Wednesday, and you’re still looking for a way to give back this Christmas, the Food Depot Alimentaire is in need of volunteers to deliver food boxes.

Hundreds of vehicles usually show up at the Moncton Coliseum, to help deliver the week’s worth of food to those in need.

Chantal Senecal says there are those who make this an annual volunteer event, but there are a lot of newcomers as well.

All you need is a vehicle, and a few hours to spare, “People start lining up fairly early, so if you want to get ahead of the lineup, you can start lining up at around 11:30 and then the doors open at noon. Once you are in the lineup, they’ll come to your window, and give you an instruction sheet and explain how it will work. Then you’ll roll through the Coliseum, and make your delivery. You are also welcome to come back if you would like more boxes. We never know how many vehicles we’re going to expect, but usually the community is pretty generous and we’re wrapped up by around 3 o’clock.”

Donations are still needed to fill those boxes as well. The number increased this year to 1800.
