State Of The Child In New Brunswick

The State of the Child Report, released by Youth Advocate Norm Bosse, finds in New Brunswick, the hospitalization of young people for mental disorders is high and only half of the children and young people who seek out mental health treatment get help within 30 days.

One out of every five graduating students doesn’t feel respected at school, one in three students with a disabilitity who graduate doesn’t feel respected and nearly one-third of graduating First Nations students don’t think they’re respected at school.

The percentage of young people in pre-trial detention is considerably higher in the province than in other areas of the country.
