Criteria laid out by the city must be met by tomorrow, in order for the Humanity Project and What Kids Need Moncton to receive funds from the City.
Moncton City Council approved a $200, 000 grant to the organizations earlier this month to help with the purchase of the former Moncton Curling Club.
Founder and President of What Kids Need Moncton Amanda Pooley says they feel they’ve met the 11 required items. She mentioned just a few, “There’s acquiring of the current property wehere we are, which negotiations have been going on for us for a couple of days. One of the organizations needed to be registered in good standing, that’s been taken care of. They’ve been meeting with Community Development Officer for Social Inclusion Kayla Breelove Carter on a regular basis.”
Permits and approvals also had to be obtained, and insurance purchased.
Pooley says once they officially acquire the land….their plan is to tear down the building, and build a new centre, “the money from the City is the first step, that’s to acquire the piece of land where all of this is going to take place. This is going to take involvement for all three levels of government, including federal and provincial, to start the building phase.”
