She is now officially the Councillor for Ward 4, partnered with Councillor Paul Pellerin.
Edgett says there are a few issues important to her already, including healthy and active living, and welcoming newcomers.
“But I am very excited about the strategy Moncton already has in place, and I want to collaborate with my fellow Councillors to make that happen,” says Edgett. “And I’m going to find a role for that, I’m not sure exactly what it is yet, but I’m headed that way.”

Edgett hopes to live up to the tremendous example set by former Ward 4 Councillor Rene Pepsi Landry, who’s seat she is taking after he passed away earlier this year.
She acknowledged the presence of Landry’s widow in the audience today by thanking her for sharing her husband with Moncton for so many years.
“He was known for the work he did, but we didn’t always hear about it, he worked very quietly, and for a lot of people in our community,” says Edgett. “So I just wanted to acknowledge that, just to say he will not be forgotten and he is very much appreciated.
Edgett says it was a wonderful swearing in ceremoney today, and she is looking forward to getting right to work with her new colleagues.
