An event to raise money for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Greater Moncton has not only been sold out but has reached $75,000 toward a fundraising goal of $100,000.
The organization has been struggling financially and recently had to lay off two employees as it restructured after serving the community for 43 years.
Moncton Mayor Dawn Arnold will host the fundraiser and on Facebook she said the mentoring of young people is what got her involved.
“It gives them a friend, it gives them a responsible adult in their life that they can do things with, hang out with and go places with,” she notes.
Former premier Bernard Lord and his wife Diane are honourary co-chairs of the fundraiser which will be held Tuesday night at the Medavie Blue Cross Atrium.
In addition to music, refreshments and auctions, Lord will deliver a speech on the importance of leadership and mentoring in the community.
