The often controversial question of whether or not the tri-communities should amalgamate into one municipality has been asked again by a leading pollster.
Corporate Research Associates questioned 400 adults in Metro Moncton between October 21 and November 9.
When the communities are broken down, 65 percent of residents in Moncton and Dieppe each said they support the idea of amalgamation.
On the flip side, 53 percent of Riverview residents oppose amalgamation.
Overall in Metro Moncton, 60 percent said they completely or mostly support the idea, 27 percent completely or mostly oppose it while the remainder neither support nor oppose it or didn’t offer an opinion.
The poll also found Francophones (68 percent) are more likely than Anglophones (55 percent) to support amalgamation.
