Security A Concern For Greater Moncton Santa Claus Parade

The 2016 Royale Greater Moncton Santa Claus Parade is only a week away with tens of thousands of people expected to come out and see it.

With so many spectators, especially younger ones, security is always top of mind.

Committee president John Richard says they are fortunate to have good partners including Codiac RCMP and a private firm, Expert Security.

“Security is always an ongoing issue with our parade. Every year we know where the weak spots are and we try to address those weak spots,” he notes.

To help mark the 50th anniversary, “Fire and Ice” is this year’s theme with both fireworks and snow promised even if Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate.

The parade begins next Saturday at 5pm and runs from the corner of Cameron and Main Streets in Moncton to the corner of Paul and Champlain Streets in Dieppe.
