Greater Moncton SPCA Making Changes After Former Employee Pleads Guilty To Animal Cruelty

The Executive Director of the Greater Moncton SPCA is speaking out after a former employee plead guilty to harming a dog.

Dave Rogers says yesterday Claude Paquet appeared in court to plead guilty to willfully causing unnecessary pain, suffering or injury to an animal.

Rogers says they cooperated completely with the investigation.

“The mental and physical welfare of animals in our care has always been of the utmost importance and continues to be so,” says Dave Rogers. “In addition we have put in place additional precautions to make sure this type of behaviour does not reoccur.”

Rogers says in the past, record checks weren’t conducted when hiring new employees but he adds in the future they will be doing such checks.
