Coaches are needed to hit the ice for the upcoming hockey season.
Last year, the Moncton Minor Hockey Association had 46 teams in its recreational league, which required 46 head coaches, and around 150 assistant coaches and managers.
Executive Director Greg Willis says they provide the training, “You take a coach certification, which is basically a one day course. it is usually offered in the fall on a Saturday or Sunday. It is a combination classroom, and on the ice instruction. You will also be required to do an online “Respect In Sport’ program.”
Willis says it’s not required that you have played hockey at a high level, and not all of their coaches have kids that play in the league.
The upcoming season gets underway after Thanksgiving weekend.
