Outgoing Moncton City Manager Proud Of His Accomplishments

Outgoing Moncton City Manager Jacques Dubé is proud of his accomplishments over his tenure.

Over the last seven years, he says his team have been working to encourage population growth in Moncton, and increase downtown development.

He says the Downtown Centre is probably the crowning glory of the work they’ve done here.

“I don’t think people actually believed it was happening until they saw steel going up, but steel is going up, and the contract is in place and that’s going to be open on September 1st, 2018 and that’s a very exciting project,” says Dubé.

He says all of those events were the work of the team at City Hall, combined with the political will of City Council and volunteers and residents.

Dubé adds they also changed the internal culture at City Hall to focus on customer service efficiency.

“The last four years we’ve taken $10 million out of the budget permanently, without affecting customer service one iota,” says Dubé “In fact we’ve enhanced customer service in many areas, doing things better, faster, using less resources.”

Dubé adds the economic development efforts they’ve put in place will pay off in the next census results, showing Moncton is the biggest municipality in New Brunswick.
