New Summer Festival Is A Showcase For New Brunswick Products And Talent

It’s a new festival for New Brunswickers this summer and it takes over Saint John next weekend.

The Area 506 Festival on Long Wharf features live music performances and Festival Chair Ray Gracewood says it’s getting down to the final details, adding it’s really starting to come together.

“The logistics partners have been incredible, even today touring the site, and mapping it out for our installation of the container village starts this weekend,” says Gracewood.

He says the event is about celebrating the province as well as Saint John and this “shipping container village” will feature New Brunswick made products.

“Containers with the natural aesthetic to create the background for the whole thing,” says Gracewood. “We’ve got 60 plus containers we’re dropping down to create this village, it’s going to create a series of roads where people can go in, completely free of charge.”

Gracewood says the event includes a New Brunswick showcase with performances like Matt Anderson and Bona Fide.

“From Day 1 he was the first person we wanted to go after,” says Gracewood. “This whole thing started about a celebration of New Brunswick and we wanted to make sure the Saturday lineup was 100% New Brunswick based, local talent.”

The celebrations next weekend will also feature performances by Big Sugar, Vogue Dots and The Backyard Devils.
