Whooping Cough Outbreak Over In Southeast NB

A whooping cough outbreak in the Southeast region is now over according to New Brunswick Public Health.

The outbreak began last August and was declared over this month.

Public health officer Dr. Yves Leger says 97 cases were reported throughout the outbreak.

Half of the cases of whooping cough were reported in children ages 5 to 15.

The last province-wide outbreak was in 2012 when less than 30 cases reported.
