The NHL Board of Governors have approved the plan of expansion that will bring a National Hockey League franchise to Las Vegas, Nevada beginning with the 2017-18 season.
NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman says the vote required two thirds of the executive committee to vote yes, and the vote was unanimous.
Bettman says the NHL Board of Governors also decided to defer the application of Quebec City due to the state of the Canadian dollar.
The expansion fee was $500-million dollars US.
